Good Day Giveaway

On Saturday, August 15th, 2020 Positive Vibes Only 501(c)(3) in partnership with East Chicago Church, The Jones Foundation and The Larger Than Life Foundation will host its second annual Good Day Bookbag Drive at East Chicago Church, 4423 Olcott Ave, East Chicago, IN 46312. With many families struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic, this annual event will provide local students with the necessary supplies to help them feel prepared for their first day of school whether that be virtually or in the classroom. The event will provide roughly 120 book bags filled with school supplies, 100 personal protective equipment packs and 1,500 boxes of free food from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. on a first come first served basis. Because of the pandemic, this year’s book bag drive will be hosted as a drive-through (limit one bookbag per vehicle unless children are present).

Although it does not guarantee a book bag we ask that you please pre-register using this form to speed up the process and to help keep the line moving.

“This year’s event will be a little different with it being a drive-through and we will have families let us know what grade their child is in and what color book bag they would like,” Positive Vibes Only founder RJ Griffith said. “Volunteers will also be wearing gloves and face masks to distribute the over 100 book bags, 100 PPE supply packs and 1,500 boxes of food we will have to give away. We are eager to serve the East Chicago community during this great time of need while keeping everyone safe in the process.”

Supply and monetary donations will be accepted at the event and monetary donations can also be made in advance online by going to https://positivevibesonly.org/donate/. All advance monetary donations will go towards the purchase of additional supplies.
